Balkan eCommerce Summit 2024 welcomes over 2000 guests from more than 15 countries for the expo and conference.
Balkan eCommerce Summit 2024 is a leading international event that brings together experts and professionals in the field of e-commerce and digital marketing to focus on standards for successful cross-border e-commerce business.
The event is organized by eCommerce Academy and Nikola Ilchev, a recognizable figure in the Balkans when it comes to e-commerce and creator of a series of formats that unite the community of online store owners and service providers for them.
Attending Balkan eCommerce Summit 2024 offers a unique opportunity for training from international lecturers, networking with industry leaders, and the start of valuable partnerships for future sales abroad.
During Balkan eCommerce Summit 2024, we will also witness the first of its kind expo in Bulgaria, where 72% of the stands will be made from recycled paper material, specifically corrugated cardboard, and will be fully recyclable. After the event, the organizers are committed to handing them over to a recycling company. The same applies to the tables associated with them. The remaining stands will be reusable.聽
The stands are made by the Bulgarian company DS Smith, the largest provider of sustainable packaging solutions for all industries and distribution channels in the country. The company is part of the British group DS Smith S.A., a leading provider of sustainable packaging solutions, paper products, and recycling services on a global scale. To facilitate the exhibitors, they arrive fully branded and after the end of the eCommerce Academy and DS Smith will take care of them, so that the partners only have the task of finding new partners and easy communication during the event. After the event, the stands will be taken to a waste paper collection point and subsequently recycled in DS Smith Group factories.
All elements in the structure of the recyclable stands – legs, walls, back, supporting elements – are made of corrugated cardboard with a special design for Balkan eCommerce Summit. The corrugated cardboard stands are cost-effective, lightweight, customizable, and sustainable. They represent a budget option, easy to transport and assemble, with ecological characteristics and the possibility of creating personalized designs and graphics. The organizers take pride in this bold but necessary step towards a greener business and expo.
Based on calculations using circular design indicators, the production of a standard stand generates 231.2kg of carbon emissions, while the production of a corrugated cardboard stand of the same size generates only 12.3kg of carbon emissions. This means that replacing just one stand with a corrugated cardboard one leads to over a 179% reduction in carbon emissions. Or, in kilograms: making one corrugated cardboard stand has a carbon footprint of 12.3kg, compared to 231.2kg for a standard stand made of the mentioned materials above, saving 218.9kg of emissions.
The calculation with the “Circular Design Indicators” tool was made based on the information provided by Nikola Ilchev regarding the materials used in the production of a standard stand, namely: wood fiber, glass, aluminum, and branded foil with print for covering the stand. The calculations for both stands: standard and corrugated cardboard, were made for one unit and with equal dimensions.
